Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup peeled, finely diced apples
  • For the Swirl:
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Мethod of preparation

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and greasing a 9x5-inch loaf pan. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. In another large bowl, cream the butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Fold in the diced apples. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter for the swirl in a small bowl and spread over the batter in the pan. Top with the remaining batter and use a knife to marble the swirl through the batter. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
